Message	the car. But not really that complicated. There's no need to hold the motor with anything, but you can use a cherry picker to stabalize the setup. There's not that much torque from the starter. In fact I'm getting ready to do this to a motor that I bought. I'm not sure whats up with it and I'm not going to install it for a compression test.
